How to play
A tiny board. Every cell is a possible move.
01 · FLIP
Tap a spark
Your tap flips a cell and its neighbours between light and dark. Some lights go off as others come on. That trade is the whole game.
02 · IGNITE
Complete a line of light
Fill a full row or column and it ignites. The board refills so there is always another line to find.
03 · COMBINE
Find the intersection
Light a row and a column with one flip for a much bigger score. Every move counts, and there is no rush.
Paper Archipelago
Restore 1,000 floating paper islands across 40 chapters.
- ✦Every tenth island adds a bonus; chapter ends, hundred-island milestones and the thousandth arrival give larger rewards.
- ✦Retry any island for free with the same board. Earn up to three mastery stars on each island.
- ✦Three rooms, three footprints: Ember crosses, Prism diagonals, Orbit wraps around the edges.
- ✦Blitz: sixty seconds, unlimited flips and a leaderboard of its own. The only place with a clock.
- ✦Daily Circuit works offline. Everyone gets the same starting board each UTC day, with unlimited attempts.
Screens are development previews. Final release captures may differ.
Your character
Make your own kind of magic.
- ✦Create a character and join one of the Lantern Academy's three houses: Inkwell, Tumblewick or Nightbloom. Each has its own tree of powers: 36 in all, two equipped at a time.
- ✦Earn skill points as you level up. Sell back your latest power for half its price, or spend sparks to join another house: what you learned stays learned.
- ✦The Powered Atelier is a mode of its own: twenty moves, two powers, three energy, and separate records so Classic stays Classic.
- ✦Duel a friend on the same board with a code or a link. Join the online boards to compare with your country and your friends: it is optional, and you can leave any time.

Free with ads. Nothing to buy.
- ✦Flipspark is free and supported by ads from Google AdMob. There are no in-app purchases.
- ✦Ads show between islands and on menus, never in the middle of a board. An optional ad can double a gift or give you a little extra help.
- ✦Ads are personalised only if you allow tracking. In the EEA and the UK you choose in a consent form, and you can change your choice in Settings.
- ✦Your progress lives on your iPhone. Nothing is sent to the online boards unless you join them.
Accessibility
Play your way.
- ✦High contrast gives the board a colour-blind-safe Okabe–Ito palette: cream lit tiles with a dark spark, outlined dark unlit tiles, sky-blue previews, yellow line flashes and an orange hint ring. The game's automated tests check its contrast ratios against WCAG.
- ✦High contrast also marks the score tiers you reach with ticks and recolours the lanterns on the island map.
- ✦Tile state never relies on colour alone: lit tiles carry a spark, unlit tiles are empty sockets.
- ✦Reduced motion keeps the DOUBLE! and TRIPLE! callouts but drops screen shake, flashes, particles and screen fades.
- ✦Separate volume sliders for music and sound effects, and a switch for haptics.
- ✦No lives, and no clock outside Blitz: every island waits for you. Portrait, one-handed play with large, finger-sized buttons. With a hardware keyboard, the arrow keys move around the board and you can flip from the keyboard.
- ✦Six languages: English, French, Spanish, Italian, German and Brazilian Portuguese.
